Job Title: Equipment Operator – Rubber Tyred Gantry(RTG)

DESCRIPTIONS:
• The employee functions as an operator of the RTG and other types of cranes where necessary.
• Note: Employee generally progress through the series to the experienced level (Shore crane) based on satisfactory performance and possession of the required experience.
JOB DUTIES:
• Makes daily inspections to see that the equipment and controls are operating properly and are in good condition.
• Reports defects and recommend improvements.
• Assist in training of lower-level Plant Operators and others.
• Perform related work as assigned.
• Receives and deliver containers to internal movement tractor units and external truckers.
JOB QUALIFICATION:
Knowledge , Skills and Abilities:
• Certification, apprentice and/or knowledge of crane operation and/or maintenance of heavy duty equipment(Plants)
• Knowledge of computer, IT/Keyboard skills
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the operation of Cranes and Ports operations.
• Ability to detect operating defects or faults.
• Ability to work with high voltage equipment
• Ability to keep records of fuel used and general operating conditions.
• Written and verbal communication skills
Additional knowledge, skill and abilities.
• Ability to provide training and explain instructions and guidelines to others effectively.
• Ability to organize and coordinate the work of the unit.
• Ability to determine job priorities.
EDUCATION: A minimum of SSCE or its equivalent and or certification (Trade Test) in plant operation. Higher level qualification is an added advantage. Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
The job duties require an employee to bend for extended period.
Agility and physical strength.
Clear vision.
AGE: Between 23-35years.
EXPERIENCE: Work experience in the maritime sector .
