Job Description:
• An exciting opportunity exists within RTI International's Global Health Technologies program for a Global Health Technology Manager.
• This individual will lead strategies for development and implementation of medical technologies for use in low and middle income countries..
• The initial project will address technologies for maternal and neonatal health.
• The Manager will be responsible for identifying technology needs, assessing technology options, developing public and private sector partnerships and preparing plans for development and testing of new devices with partners.
• Building on RTI's ongoing work, this individual will be responsible for developing new funding for Global Health Technology projects.
• Previous experience in the development of global health devices addressing needs in low and middle income countries is required.
Responsibilities:
• Identify and develop descriptions of desired health technology product requirements to meet needs in low resource regions.
• Identify and assess potential technologies to meet required health needs.
• Conduct market research, develop analytical tools, and conduct quantitative analyses to evaluate the market potential of technologies being considered.
- Develop and implement plans for specification, development, testing and introduction of global health technologies in low and middle income countries..
- Identify appropriate public and private sector organizations and develop partnerships to advance the development of new products.
• Align products with priorities of international organizations, country governments and NGOs.
• Determine key global, national and regional gatekeepers and obtain required input regarding best approach for product acceptance and launch in target countries or regions.
• Develop new funding opportunities for RTI's Global Health Technologies program.
• Prepare reports, publications and presentations to share findings with international agencies, donors, industry, and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a BS and 12 years; MS with 9 years; or Ph.D. and 6 years of relevant work experience in research, development, market research, testing and implementation of global health products. An ideal educational background will include engineering, product development, or design background.
• Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams
• Project management experience in medical technology design, development and/or commercialization.
- Experience in working with both public and private sector research and development organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, design and provide strategic level management to programs, working with partners in low to middle income countries.
• Experience in successful proposal preparation.
• Strong team building and people management skills
• International experience in Asia, and/or Africa
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A history of developing and maintaining partnerships with leading global health organizations
• Experience in developing and negotiating complex partnering agreements to collaborate on product development.
• Medical device regulatory knowledge a plus—- including WHO prequalification eprocess
