Title: Crisis looms in PDP as Tukur nominates Mantu, Zwingina, others as board chairmen

Serious crisis is now looming at the national secretariat of the People's Democratic Party, PDP,  following the alleged favouritism to some geo-political zones in the  submission of names of chairmen and members of various government parastatals submitted by the National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to President Goodluck Jonathan for consideration.

Saturday Vanguard gathered yesterday that in the list submitted by Tukur to President Jonathan, the former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ibrahim Mantu will chair the Board of Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC.

Mantu who hails from Plateau state was the National Coordinator of Bamanga Tukur Campaign Organisation during the party's national convention.

Senator Jonathan Zwingina from Adamawa State was also picked as chairman of  the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, while  Dr. E.M.I. Enemuo was nominated to chair the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Eha- Amufu in Enugu state, while Alhaji Shittu Bamayi who is from Plateau state was nominated as member of the National Manpower Board just as  Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Garapowa wass slated for  membership of the former Education Trust Fund, ETF, now  Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Tertfund.

Also, the former Minister of Education, Dr. Birma Daudu was nominated as a member of the National Agriculture Laison Services based in Zaria, while  Alhaji Aliyu Tukur was recommended as member of the Federal Collage of Education in Yola, with Squadron Leader Musa Ashu and Alhaji Inuwa Mayobella being nominated for membership of the NRC and the National Metrological Centre respectively.

The National Library of Nigeria has Usman Danburam as member, while Kunle Akindele was nominated a member of the National Medical and Dental Council, even as Abu King Shullwa is espected to become  a member board of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja and both Mrs. Mariam Guaram and Chief Vero Tamgboowei becoming members of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC among others.

Sources said that those who were uncomfortable with the present arrangement complained that some zones of the country were well favoured over others and then vowed to oppose the list.
