Role Summary/Purpose:
• The Field Application Engineer (FAE) provides technical support to regional team to develop a pipeline of potential opportunities incorporating Thermal products throughout Inquiry to Order processes.
• The opportunity/orders are power plant of 40MW to few hundreds MW mainly in Nigeria.
• This individual will understand and develop strategies to influence customer economic evaluation criteria for thermal power generation capital investments.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Proactively promote and position GE early in the project phase to create value and influence by working closely with consultants, developers, EPCs industry OEM partners and customers.
• Understand Nigerian IPPs and their business models
• Provide technical expertise to Sales and Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing and developing competitive product applications.
• Estimate GE equipment and system performance and hardware evaluation throughout the bid process.
• Collect regional Voice of Customer and Voice of Market on the value of flexible generation solutions and support New Product Introduction activities.
• Influence customers to understand and recognize the full economic value that Thermal product solutions provide.
• Understand on energy/power market structures, pricing mechanisms, and policy that impact the customer value proposition.
• Integrate region-specific customer views on life-cycle value into strategic planning (New Product Introduction and Growth Playbook). Develop region-specific collateral to sell the value of our offerings to customers.
• Gather and analyze competitor feedback in the regions to improve GE understanding of value differentiation in the eyes of our customers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing or engineering and a strong technical and commercial background in the power industries.
• Demonstrated gas turbine generator and combined cycle knowledge and experience Proven analytical skill set and strategic mindset.
• Strong grasp of power plant economics.
• Strong communication skills.
• Fluent in English. Self-driven with the ability to work in a global team
Desired Characteristics:
• Experience with Nigerian energy markets
• Knowledgeable of power generation industry trends and competition.
• Prior experience in engineering, construction or operations of large power plants.
• Experience with a Utility, IPP, Project Developers or Public Utility Commission in economic lifecycle modeling.
• Strong network of relationships with key customers in the region.
• Ability to assess impact of price and performance decisions on customers, market, & investors.
• Experience in thermal performance simulation tools: GTPro, Gatecycle, etc MBA or advanced Engineering degree.
