THE House of Representatives Committee on Justice has called for the merger of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Ofences Commission (ICPC).

This, it said, will save public funds and avoid duplication of roles.
The Chairman of the Committee, Henry Dickson, who led other members on oversight visit to the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), also called for the establishment of a state police.
Dickson said the power given to the President to hire and fire the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) should be reviewed.
Praising Adoke for the way he has conducted himself since his appointment, Dickson said: "We are here to find out how the 2010 budget of your ministry has been implemented so far.
