Nigerian army authorities today pardoned 27 soldiers who were jailed by a military court marshall for demanding their allowances for a foreign service.

The twenty seven soldiers were entenced to life imprisonment for "mutiny" by a military tribunal led by Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka who claimed the soldiers acted mutinously by engaging in public protests against their superiors that embezzled their allowances and monetary entitlements after returning from foreign peacekeeping operations.
