Reports To: Manager-PS VAS
Job Summary:
Operate, maintain and administer PS VAS platforms/ systems to ensure 24/ 7 availability and stability
Maintain functionalities of all PS VAS Nodes
Effect all necessary hardware and software changes to ensure quality output of PS VAS platforms/ systems
Principal Functions:
Perform O&M related tasks on VAS equipment; undertake pro-active measures to identify both obvious and non-obvious problems that potentially might be raised to existing servers
Perform a comprehensive PS VAS fault/ failure/ alarm analysis in order to identify and determine the root cause of each fault which could potentially escalate to a higher level of alarm
Analyze the daily generated alarm and error logs, report symptoms and undertake proactive measures – such as troubleshooting or escalating to the next level – in order to prevent potential problems
Analyze repeated problems, trends and service degradations; ensure that the root causes of such problems are identified and permanently solved
Analyze faults from any available output such as NMS, reported customer complaints, etc
Produce trouble ticket for relevant party (e.g vendor) with detailed description on any identified problem
Ensure that all PS VAS equipment and services are well maintained and properly operated
Troubleshoot any reported problem or escalation received from the Engineer-PS VAS; perform required action to resolve
Perform any other duty as assigned by the Manager-PS VAS
Educational Requirements:
First degree or equivalent in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
Relevant postgraduate (M.Sc.)/ professional qualifications/ certifications will provide an advantage
Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 4 years directly relevant work experience
Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:
• Good understanding of VAS calls flows and connectivity with external networks
• Hands-on experience of handling multimedia solutions like SMSC, MMSC, Data Charging Nodes, WAP Gateway, OTA, ADM, Download and Streaming solutions
• Good knowledge of IP based routing and security
• Strong background of UNIX/ LINUX
• Good knowledge of GPRS protocols
• Good knowledge of Accounting, Authentication and Authorization
• Experience in use of Rational Database Management Systems such as Oracle, DB2 and/ or MySQL
• Excellent communication skills
