Following the recent disbursement of a five-year $320million HIV/AIDS grant to the Federal Government by the Global Fund, the Action Aid of Nigeria (AAN) has urged the government, Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) to be more transparent in spending the money allocated to HIV/AIDS in the budget at the state and local levels of government. The group has also asked the government and MDAs to be accountable to the citizenry on how funds devoted to HIV/AIDS prevention are spent.
The organization's representative, Mrs. Bimbo Adewunmi said this in Abuja yesterday, during the HIV/AIDS Budget Analysis and Tracking Project Dissemination Workshop as part of activities marking the World Aids Day.
