The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed that a veteran presenter of Islamic programmes on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Razaq Lawan, popularly known as Gawat, was missing.
Ngozi Braide, spokesperson for the command, said the police would not rush to describe Lawan's case as that of kidnapping.
She said that Lawan's wife, who reported the matter to the Adeniji Adele Police Station, alleged that she spoke to her husband last on phone on July 10 at about 4.45 p.m. According to her, Lawan said that he was going to Ikeja for a meeting.
Braide said that Lawan's car was later found at Apongbon inward Bridge by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LATSMA), adding that no incriminating item was found in the vehicle.
Lawan, who produces Islamic programmes, especially during Ramadan periods, lived at Phase II, Jakande Housing Estate, Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island. before he went missing.
The police spokesperson said that the case was still being investigated.
I got an update from a Facebook friend that Alhaji Gawat has been found but the story behind his missing situation has not been reported. We are happy for him and with his family...
