POLICE in Delta State, weekend rescued a couple, Mr. Glory Oseveta and Mrs. Love Osevata from kidnappers after a gun battle that left two police officers with bullet wounds.
The kidnappers also sustained bullet wounds in the gun duel, but they escaped with their weapons when they saw that the police would win the battle, abandoning the husband and wife.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the couple were abducted on July 12 at about 06.50 hours while they were driving out of their residence on Uti Street, Effurun, near Warri, in a Honda SUV with registration number, USL 433 AA, by four gunmen.
The gunmen, who were loitering around the area, ambushed them with a red Audi car, registration number unknown and drove off with them, but were chased by a police patrol team from Ebrumede Police Division to Ughelli.
The team lost track of the kidnappers at Ughelli, but the B Division patrol team encountered them and rescued two of the victims after exchange of gunfire.
Police spokesperson, Mr. Muka urged members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of the injured suspects to report to the nearest police station.
