UMUAHIA—GOVERNOR Wamatarkada Wammako of Sokoto State weekend visited his Abia state counterpart, Chief Theodore Orji, in line with recent resolution by the Governors' Forum for the governors of the 36 states to engage in peer review visits and activities to exchange ideas.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the  visit, Governor Wammako explained that he was in the state in compliance with the Governors Forum directives.

According to him, regional pact among the federating units of the country was an antidote to achieving the desired unity amongst the people of the nation.

According to him, "I am here because of the resolution of the Governors' Forum for us to exchange visit and engage in peer review. Governors will visit their colleagues across the nation and see how they carry out development activities and learn from each other.  I am here to see what my friend and colleague is doing in Abia and how he is doing it, and learn from here as well".

This is also another way on encouraging peaceful coexistence and unity amongst the various ethnic groups in the country."

"On the question of the areas of collaboration between Abia and Sokoto states, as members of the Governors' Forum, we decided to visit each other to review each other's achievements under the Peer Review Mechanism and to encourage national cohesion.

"In Abia State we visited a Floor Mill in Aba that requires wheat as its raw material, we can collaborate with Abia State on wheat supply, that Floor Mill cannot operate at full capacity without wheat, we have wheat and is on that area we can collaborate."

On level of development in Umuahia and Aba , compared to when he said he last visited about 17 years ago, Wammako said, "I have seen changes in the areas of massive development, improved sanitation, good road networks which is made possible by Governor Orji's style of leadership".

On the State of the Umuahia- Aba Federal Expressway, the Sokoto State Governor said, "I am not here to raise controversy, the road that I saw is in deplorable condition, it is Trunk A road, there is need to rehabilitate that road."
