Job Purpose:
• To develop and service relationships with high-end medium-sized businesses with a turnover of approx N150m – N2 billion ($1m – $16m).
• To increase revenues per business relationship through targeted and innovative marketing strategies.
• To create and maintain high quality assets through excellent risk and credit management.
• To develop a proactive, skilled and result-oriented Commercial Banking team.
KRAs:
• Provides a high level of customer service to business clients and manages their day-to-day banking relationships.
• Counsels client on emerging financial issues, new bank products and services, regulatory matters, and the general financial environment, in order to advise them of the impact on their personal/corporate wealth and bank-related services.
• Cross-selling products to and expanding relationships with existing business customers and prospects.
• Responsibility for individual sales efforts to achieve unit targets
• Retention of client base through a high level of physical and telephone contact, exceptional service and needs recognition
• Makes referrals to Retail branches and other lines of business when appropriate
• Maximizes the department's profitability through the maintenance of a high quality loan portfolio.
Risk Management:
• Ensure that products and service offerings are packaged and structured in such a way as to minimise risk and protect the interests of the bank.
• Understand clients risk profile and correlation between risk vs reward by optimising product mix for clients.
• Structures and negotiates loans within the authorized lending limits. Monitors current loan portfolio on an on-going basis to ensure credit quality.
• Manage and control industry sector / client exposure and security held against facilities to contain risks.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
• Requires thorough knowledge of all group products and services including pricing, bank policy, government regulations and services offered by competitors.
• Good working knowledge or familiarity with some computer applications – use of Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel and Power point an advantage
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Strong presentation skills
Experience:
• Minimum of a 2.2 B.Sc from reputable university and a 2nd degree or a professional qualification in a related area will provide a sound foundation upon which job experience can be built.
• Relationship Manager should ideally have a minimum of 3 years financial services sales or retail banking experience banking experience
• Credit analysis, Consumer lending or small business lending experience an advantage
