PROJECT Director, Seven Wonders of Nigeria, Ikechi Uko has said that Nigerians spend $1.5 billion to buy international tickets to travel outside the country.

Uko who disclosed this in a media chat in Calabar, Cross River State said that he had helped about 80 million Nigerians to travel abroad and that Nigerians spend more money to shop outside the country than any other people.

He said Cross River State has all it takes in the hospitality industry to be the best tourism destination in the West African sub-region and that the newly established Experience Cross River by the private sector in the state would promote the tourism development of the government in the state.

Pastor Onung said that hotels play prominent role in driving the state tourism development and that experience cross River, which is established by the private sector would give opportunity to tourists and visitors to know all the hospitality industries in the state, their locations and also make it cheap for them.
