Job Title: Lead EPC Planner

Role Summary/Purpose:   

Responsible to the Project Director (EPC Projects) for ensuring the integration management and control of the multi EPC project schedules and that they are properly planned, measured and accurately reported in line with the best practices and Project Controls Office

Essential Responsibilities:   

1. Responsible for promotion of sound Planning and Progress Measurement engineering practice at all times

2. Monitor the EPC contractor's performance from a planning perspective (schedule development, progress measurement, interface timing control, supply chain planning, collection verification and analysis of progress statistics to ensure any deviations from plan are correctly reported and that solutions are derived and implemented etc). Review and analyse contractors planning schedules and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness and detect and manage trends/deviations to the current forecast

3. Regularly archive and maintain a live data base of the Contractors planning output that allows the integration of the EPC Contract activities into the overall Project Plan managed by the Project Manager. The data base shall also keep the EPC Contract schedule risk register and be capable of carrying out schedule risk analysis as required by the EPC Contract or the Project Controls Office.

4. Create weekly,monthly and quaterly planning reports and forecasts as required and produce planning presentation materials as requested by the Project Services Manager and Project Controls office

5. To follow-up and report on actual versus planned progress for all EPC packages during project execution and develop s-curves,resource histograms,cost and schedule variance analysis reports

6. To carry out regular missions to site to ensure good co-ordination and communication with site planning/services engineers and discipline leads and managers.

7. Conduct the schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analyses for assigned elements, including any impact from interface areas.

8. Know the contract key dates, milestones and plan dates and how they relate to the overall project schedule

9. Develop the activities, logic, resources and progress for the assigned project sub-elements.

10. Liase with project engineering personnel to assist proper understanding of the key schedule sensitivities and drivers and identification of alternate approaches to optimise the plan(s).

11. Maintain progress data on live programs and produce progress reports and ensure time-based analysis and/or resource limited based scheduling

Qualifications/Requirements:   

1. Engineering Degree and/or expereience as a Planning Engineer or equivalent

2. Minimum of 6 years industry experience in planning positions

3. A high degree of skill in written and oral communications. Fully versed with Planning principles and techniques and Primavera P6 software

Desired Characteristics:   

1. Experience in project engineering/management in an EPC environment

2. Confident user of Primavera P6 essential.

3. Must be competent in the use of spread sheeting and word-processing packages

4. Ability to organise own work effectively and communicate effectively to stakeholders and top management
