Job Title: Specialist – UNIX Systems

Job Summary:
Administer, maintain, support and upgrade the existing UNIX operating system
Principal Functions:
• Execute policies and procedures approved to guide the design, implementation and maintenance of the organization's UNIX operating system
• Provide inputs in the planning of UNIX operating system upgrades and deployments
• Provide support in the implementation and user acceptance testing of the UNIX operating system
• Assist in the development of a proactive maintenance cycle for the UNIX operating system; automate preventive/ routine maintenance
• Perform daily UNIX operating system administration, including hardware and software upgrades
• Maintain back-up of the UNIX operating system network
• Ensure optimal performance of all applications running on the UNIX operating system environment at Etisalat Nigeria through proactive tuning and preventive maintenance, including performing daily UNIX checks, correcting any issues, monitoring UNIX performance and recommending adjustments as may be required
• Liaise with relevant unit/ team/ function in carrying out all relevant/ assigned UNIX-specific activities
• Attend team/ divisional/ departmental meetings as and when required
• Prepare/ compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Manager-IT Operations Support
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager-IT Operations Support
Educational Requirements:
• First degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Engineering, and/ or any other relevant discipline
• Postgraduate/ professional qualification in a related field will provide an advantage
Experience & Skills: Between two (2) and five (5) years directly relevant post-NYSC work experience.
