Job Title: Hausa Instructor

Job Description:
• The Post Language Program at the U.S. Embassy is seeking a fluent Hausa speaker with teaching experience to instruct U.S. Mission personnel in basic and intermediate Hausa.
• This position will teach two different courses.
• The first course will be an introduction to Hausa.
• The second course will provide more in-depth instruction for those Embassy employees with a fundamental knowledge of Hausa.
Job Requirements:
1) The Hausa instructor must have teaching experience. A teaching degree/certificate and/or prior experience in foreign-language teaching is highly desirable; prior experience teaching Hausa and/or teaching adult learners is will also be taken into consideration.
2) The instructor must be able to meet at the Embassy two-to-three times per week for a total of 5 hours per week. The days and times will be set according to the availability of the instructor. The instructor is expected to submit a course outline for each class in advance.
3) The instructor must provide one-to-two references who can speak to their teaching experience.
Compensation:
• The instructor will teach for 44 weeks spread throughout one calendar year (at least two teaching breaks will be scheduled by the Embassy, with input from the Instructor).
• The pay for the one-year contract is N1,504,000, paid at the hourly rate of N6,836 per hour.
• Pay received will be based on actual hours worked.
• The contractor must submit a monthly invoice signed by the post language officer.
• There will be no compensation for travel, retirement or health benefits offered.
