Title: ACN reaffirms commitment to Oyo/Osun Joint Ownership of LAUTECH

THE Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State has warned Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala against making political and deceitful statements on the issue of joint ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) between Oyo and Osun states.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to the joint ownership of the institution.

Governor Alao-Akala had announced on Wednesday in Oke Ogun area of the state that Oyo State would soon become the sole owner of LAUTECH, promising to establish a satellite campus in two towns in the area next year after the deal is sealed.

The ACN, in a statement by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, said the Elders Council of the party at their monthly meeting in Ibadan, described Akala's statement as "myopic, visionless and lacking in substance."

The party maintained that the generality of Oyo State indigenes were happy with the joint ownership with their brothers and sisters in Osun State, adding that the governor should find a means of halting his moves to destroy the mutual relationship that has existed between the two states since the creation of Osun State in 1991.

The party also faulted Akala's decision to withhold teachers' July salary. Describing it as callous, the ACN called for immediate payment of the salaries to the teachers who have fulfilled their own part of the agreement that led to the suspension of their strike at the time.
