General:
The British High Commission is looking for one despatch Rider to work in its Transport Unit in Corporate Services Section. The duties will include: – Responsible for receiving and delivery of mails from/to various Diplomatic missions, government offices and private establishments. – Collection of High Commission's bills of various organisations. – Collection and delivery of daily newspapers to the High Commission. – Liase with Nigerian Postal services for the High Commission – Keep records of incoming and out going mails. – Serve as messenger.
Qualities needed:
• The despatch rider will be responsible for providing an efficient and reliable mail/messenger service between the British High Commission and Nigerian Government Departments, other Diplomatic Missions and commercial organisations.
• All applicants must have a full Nigerian drivers licence for at least 3 years, no previous traffic convictions.
• A minimum of 2 years cognate despatch Rider experience is required.
• A good working knowledge of Abuja area is essential, as is the ability to work unsupervised.
• A suitable motor-cycle will be provided.
• Driving skills will be tested for those applicants called for interview.
• Applicants should be presentable and must have secondary school certificate, be courteous, have neat- legible handwriting and a strong command of written and spoken English.
This is a full time position, from 8am – 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am – 1.00pm on Friday. The job will be graded LE Vb with a monthly salary of N112, 461.00 per month. Successful candidates who are not liable to pay Nigerian tax will be subject to a 10 % notional tax deduction on the basic salary. The salary will be paid in Naira.
Interview will be held in the week commencing 20th August, 2012.
Start date for the position is 3rd September, 2012.
