ONITSHA—RESTIVE  youths in Nkpor community, Idemili North Local Government Area are on a warpath  with the Anambra State Police Command over alleged illegal arrests of innocent youths in the area since the recent arrest of four kidnap suspects in Arthur Garden hotel, Nkpor.

The youths are protesting alleged incessant arrests of youths in the area after the arrest of the kidnap suspects alongside the owner of the hotel, Chief Christopher Udo, and Chief Godwin Onwukwe, for alleged complicity.

It will be recalled that Governor Peter Obi recently sealed off the Arthur Garden hotel following the arrest of the kidnap suspects in the place.

At a briefing yesterday, the spokesman of Nkpor stakeholders forum,  Christian Okeke, claimed the community was under siege following the arrest of two of their sons by the police.

He said: " We are saying that the arrest of two prominent sons of Nkpor community is not a welcome development and we are not comfortable with the stories of kidnapping and the sealing off of the hotel.  We condemn any act of criminality in its entirety and we wish to state categorically that the police should intensify investigations into the matter. If the owner is culpable, he should face the wrath of the law but if not he should be released the hotel reopened because tension is currently mounting in the community."
