DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the WHO representative and the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer, the incumbent of the position will deal with the following tasks:
1. Perform routine maintenance of the radio communication system by carrying out daily check-ups of the system and execute minor repairs;
2. Operate radio equipment – (HF & VHF) and transmit/receive fax messages;
3. Ensure proper radio communication in his zone in accordance with the United Nations security regulations;
4. Keep up to date information of the whereabouts of ALL WHO/EPI vehicles and personnel in his/her zone and to report on a daily basis (morning and evening) to Abuja.
5. Reports problems encountered with the functioning of the radio system to the Operations Officer/Zonal Coordinator.
6. Process security clearance for staff in state offices without internet access
7. Required to train newly arriving/visiting staff in the proper use of radio communication equipment.
8. Perform any other functions as may be directed by the Supervisor.
Qualification requirements:
• Completion of Secondary education
• Trained/experience in radio communication
• Diploma or Technical training in radio maintenance and repairs or higher with IT experience an added advantage
• Candidate must be computer literate
Knowledge and skills:
• Proven ability and knowledge of modern office radio equipment
• Ability to operate Microsoft Word and Excel software
• Fluent in English and clear speech.
• A proven report writing ability a MUST
• Ability to handle multiples tasks and to work with minimal supervision in a multicultural environment.
