Nigeria established a profile very early on in the 1990's with practical use of wireless Internet using Free and Open Source Software. Now in 2010, there are some new Challenges for open source software in Nigeria (http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/01/19/challenges-for-open-source-software-in-nigeria/). Like everywhere, much attention is focused on the tiny fraction of businesses that 'sell' software, while at the same time ignoring the overwhelming majority that use software or even those that develop and rely on in-house expertise and systems.
This is indeed very right. It is high time we rise to the challenge in Nigeria and employ open source tool to our sustainable development.
