A 48-year-old welder, Mr Musbau Akinade, on Monday urged an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his marriage because of his wife's alleged attempt to poison him.
"My wife poisoned me sometime ago,'' Akinade, who resides on the Oriwu Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, said during a hearing in a divorce suit he filed.
The plaintiff also alleged that his wife of 19 years, Ashiata, 38, seized all his property documents.
"She took those documents because she thought I was going to die. Please separate us; I am fed up with the marriage,'' he said.
However, in her response, Ashiata, mother of five, denied the allegations. "I want this court to help me. I still want to be his wife,'' she submitted.
The Court President, Alhaja Risikat Ekerin, adjourned the case till Sept. 24 for further hearing. (NAN)
