The Niger State government says there is no going back on the planned sale of government houses in Minna as the decision is in the best interest of people of the state and in line with government existing policy on monetisation.
The government's stand was restated at a stakeholders meeting held in Minna.
A statement yesterday by Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu's Chief Press Secretary Danladi Ndayebo said all those present at the meeting including commissioners, special advisers, directors general, heads of boards and parastatals and many others, backed up the move to sell off the government buildings.
The buildings were constructed as far back as 1978 and are being occupied by commissioners, state lawmakers and other senior government officials.

The stakeholders meeting, according to Ndayebo, noted the monetisation policy of the government and resolved that only the governor, his deputy, speaker of the House of Assembly, chief judge and grand khadi are entitled to houses.
Ndayebo said the meeting resolved that occupants of the buildings would be given the opportunity to purchase or reject the buildings but maintained that none of the buildings will be sold below the bidding price.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu said his administration will not be blackmailed or intimated to take decisions that will not be in the interest of the people.
