KANO – The House of Representatives has denied any plot to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan blaming the hullabaloos generated by the impeachment issue on the media.
The Deputy Minority Whip, Alhaji AbdulRhaman Kawu Sumaila told Reporters in Kano that the non-existence impeachment threat was a media creation even as he maintained that the House only asked for good governance.
"We are not quarrelling with the Presidency but only trying to ensure that what need to be done to better the lives of over160 million Nigerians are delivered. I believe this remains the only way the House can lay claim to legitimate and quality representation".
Sumaila who represents Sumaila /Takai federal constituency noted that the House of Representatives owes it a duty to compel the executive arm to faithfully implement appropriate bills it signed into law for the betterment of the citizens.
"As far as I know it is you people (the media)that creates the impeachment threat that has hang tenaciously on our political firmament in recent time, but as Principal officer of the House, I wish to state without fear of contradictions that we never planned to impeach this President Goodluck Jonathan ", Kawu explained.
Speaking further, he said; "the House consider it a disservice to the country if it kept mute over the non implementations of 2012 appropriation bill by the federal Government". He pointed out that the bill contained several transformational projects that could positively impact on Nigerians.
