Title: Bakassi People Will Become Slaves In Cameroon—Makinde
Post by: Sunexx360 on Sep 29, 2012, 02:07 PM
The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, on Friday in Abuja called on the Federal Government to appeal the 2002 controversial judgement of the International Court of Justice, which ceded the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsular to Cameroon.
He said if measures were not put in place to reclaim the region, the citizens would become slaves.
He advocated the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference and warned that any further delay in the convocation would amount to postponing the evil day.
Makinde spoke at a press briefing in Abuja on the state of the nation, where he also warned that the FG should not enter into dialogue with Boko Haram , "except they have stopped bombing places of worship and government's establishments and we cannot dialogue in war."
He said, "I support that the FG should appeal against the Bakassi Peninsular judgement because 95 per cent of them bear Nigeria names and they have Nigerian dishes. If we leave them there, they will become slaves; if you lose your identity, you will become a slave among your hosts."                                                         Punchng

He is saying the truth, the Bakassi people will be subject to maltreatment if they let Cameroon claim that land.
