Cesc Fabregas has dismissed suggestions his reaction contributed to Gary Medel's red card as Barcelona battled to a 3-2 victory at Sevilla.
Barca had been trailing Sevilla 2-1 when Medel was dismissed in the 72nd minute as he motioned his head towards Fabregas. The visitors then rallied, with Fabregas, who had scored Barca's first, equalising in the 89th minute before David Villa grabbed a winner deep into injury time.
After the game, Fabregas denied suggestions that his actions had cost Sevilla.
"There's contact because he gets my face and, in the world of football, it's the intention that matters most," he said. "There's no reason to talk about it. In football these kind of plays are straight reds."
One journalist pressed Fabregas on the matter, to which he replied: "If you want, I'll imitate what Medel did on you and then you can tell me if it's a red card."
