Frank Lampard believes that Chelsea have the ability required to become the first side in 22 years to retain the Champions League trophy.
The Blues clinched the crown witha dramatic penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich in May,and have made a strong start to this season's European campaign, taking four points from their opening two games with a 2-2 draw against Serie A champions Juventus and a 4-0 win away against FC Nordsjaelland.
History is firmly against Chelsea - the feat has never been achieved in the Champions League era - however, talisman Lampard feels that they have spirit to match the achievements of the AC Milan side that successfully defended their title in 1990.
l have watched Chelsea's few games. l doubt if they can retain the UEFA Champions League trophy, as purported by Frank Lampard. Chelsea could suffer a big blow, in their quest to retaining the UEFA CL trophy, if they meet a stronger opposition.
