JOB PURPOSE:
To take complete ownership base stations (both active and passive components) and manage day to day operations.
Active equipment – BTS equipment – Transmission – Fibre
Passive equipment – ATS panels, DG, PHCN, Transformers, AVRs – Rectifiers, UPS, Inverters, Air-conditioners, IPMS, – Hybrids, IPMS and solar installations – Towers etc

MAJOR ACTIVITIES
BSS Performance
Activity areas will be on – Manage day to day activities on base stations for passive infrastructure. – Respond to NOC call outs to attend to faults on site and other site related issues whenever
intervention is required. – Site acceptance both active and passive ATP. – Receive passive equipment on site as well as keep track of all site passive assets. – Track diesel delivery and consumption on site and maintain on-site record as well as
database management. – Supervise and review routine maintenance activities on site and ensure quality of work as
per Airtel standards – Resolve passive infrastructure issues on site to keep power available on site – Successful operation of PHCN, hybrid, IPMS, Solar and get intended benefits – Planning and adherence of Preventive maintenance of passive equipment on site. – Ensure the to reach and sustain availability targets – Provide plans for swap outs in advance – Prevent site lock outs due to urchins and community related issues. – Site audits – Maintain updated database of site, projects, and capex and opex components. – Meet Network KPI and OPEX targets. – Troubleshoot and identify faults on base stations passive infrastructure with a view to
resolution through FMEs , maintenance vendors, third party vendors. Attend to call outs
from NOC and emergency calls to resolve faults on site. Co-ordination of job order on site – Management and tracking of diesel supply to site by diesel supply vendors by receiving andvalidation supplied quantities matches with allocated qty as well as documented qty as per waybill, delivery schedule. Testing of quality of diesel supplied to site to check conformity with standards. – Keep track of actual consumption of diesel at sites and ensure the consumption is within the acceptable levels – Manage all vendors having installation of passive equipment on site, conducting passive acceptance as well as provisioning of ac and dc power to active equipment. Testing of passive alarms and environmental monitoring devices to ensure they report to the Network operations center (NOC). – Ensure routine preventive maintenance is carried out properly and on schedule. Also ensure corrective maintenance activities are carried out effectively on in good time, track and keep records to ensure network availability. – Ensure that all preventive, corrective and configuration job orders are duly implemented according to the Job/Work Order process. – Provide actual, detailed, and concise clearing details to NOC whenever a fault has been
cleared. – Provide First Line Maintenance/Intervention also for all passive elements within his cluster and ensure complete resolution of fault. – Shall be responsible for Sending faulty network equipment/units back to spare management department for repairs – Shall be responsible for Maintaining the site information database and records for sites within his cluster. – Take responsibility for the monitoring of all maintenance contractors in all Airtel (ISM, etc)sites within his cluster and shall ensure that the contractors adhere to Airtel safety and quality standards. – Shall be responsible for the monitoring of diesel consumption) on each site and will provide report accordingly. – Key Functional Areas under responsibility – 24hrs site operations and maintenance management – Management of site passive infrastructure – Diesel management and tracking of diesel usages – Maintenance of all passive infrastructure on site
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills
Qualification: HND or BSc. Engineering or Sciences
Relevant Experience: – 3+ years working experience (Power System operation & Maintenance – 1 Year in Telecommunications Industry is an added advantage
Personal Characteristics & Behaviours
Attributes – Ability to troubleshoot DG, AC, Inala, DC components, AMF panel, Hybrid, PHCN, Solar, etc Understanding of AC and DC power system – Solid understanding of the active components of BTS sites. – Ability to work under pressure and round the clock. – Good analytical skills and use of Microsoft office applications (excel, power point). – Demonstrated skills of co-ordination with multiple vendors and stake holders. – Understanding of Telecommunications Business – Demonstrate good knowledge of GSM related Power Network – Demonstrate good knowledge of operations & maintenance of power system – Strong Leadership ,communication and interpersonal skills
