Abuja - A Nigerian high court in Abuja on Thursday jailed for five years two officers of the nation's anti-graft agency EFCC for allegedly taking a bribe from a politician, an official statement said.

The two officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Douglas William and Abba Ishaku, were in 2010 charged with "conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretense", the agency statement said.

They allegedly demanded 100 000 naira from Kullima Kachalla in order to destroy a petition filed against the politician which the statement said had indicted him for alleged mismanagement of public funds.

Kachalla reported the bribe demand to the EFCC and the two men were arrested in a sting operation while taking the bribe, the statement said. - Sapa-AFP
