Post by: Sunexx360 on Oct 08, 2012, 04:42 PM
The Lagos State government yesterday explained that private vehicles are not affected by its plans to regulate use of number plates within the metropolis.
The state Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, explained that only vehicles operating as commercial public transport would have to obtain the state's number plate before being allowed to operate in and on Lagos roads, adding that the development was necessary to enable government have adequate information about such vehicles.
Opeifa in a statement issued by Press and Public Relation Officer of the Ministry of Transport, Adeyinka Gbemibade, said to ensure the safety and security of lives of the people in the state, Regulation 41 sub-section1 of the Road Traffic Law stipulates that "no person shall operate or cause to be operated a commercial vehicle without having obtained a commercial vehicle operator licence from the Lagos State government."                                    247nigeriaupdates
