THE OPPORTUNITY: SP Business Development organization is seeking business development senior manager, focused on orchestrating and accelerating Converged IP and Optical based business deals.
The successful business development senior manager candidate will work both strategically and drive execution with key SP customers and partners to identify, develop, support and see to close IP + Optical opportunities across the Service Provider / Telco Market in South Africa / Emerging Africa. The individual's role will also include working cross-functionally within Cisco & with key Technology partners, System Integrators and Service Providers.
KEY OBJECTIVES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Business Development Sr manager responsibilities include :
• Leadership role in orchestration and execution of large strategic IP + Optical SP deals with top System Integrators and Service Providers.
• Assist Cisco in shaping the future of the converged IP and Optical transport by creating unprecedented value and opportunity for defined Service Provider customers.
• Creating new opportunities in the converged transport field focused on the Key Operators.
• Develop Go to market strategy and execution of deals. Work closely with System Integrators and Service Providers to facilitate & develop differentiated offers
• Partner and collaborate with multiple constituents within Cisco in the development of joint offers with partners
• Manage & develop executive management level relationships at key partners and customers
• Innovate new business models and transformation plays in the SP market
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Management professional with direct experience with top tier System Integrator & Service Providers including solution development delivery, project management and business development.
• 10 + years business management experience with a minimum of 5+ years at System Integrators or Service Providers
• Must have both: strong sales skills in a competitive environment and technical knowledge (mainly Optical and IP core technologies like DWDM, SDH, WSON, ROADM, GMPLS, IPoDWDM, IP MPLS, MPLS-TP, Core Routing Architectures, Edge and access routing technologies etc.)
• Proven track record in the following areas: Market Planning, Identifying and Qualifying Opportunities, Pursuit Planning and Implementation, Customer Dynamics, Competitive Knowledge, Market and Regulatory Knowledge and Technical Competence.
• Ability to understand customer needs and vision from a customer management perspective, match it against the full breadth of Cisco's IP + Optical value proposition, and position it in a powerful way in order to generate budgets and close deals.
• Ability to manage and orchestrate complex large scale cross-functional (internal and external teams) projects/programs with a focus on results.
• Working knowledge of technology trends and innovations in the SP Market with particular focus on optical + transport
• Business case development including financial modeling
• Execution and Operational experience including selling process to drive net new deals
• A proven ability to build the link between technology and business impact, with strong understanding of business processes and operations
• Established direct CXO relationships in multiple industries
• Creative "out of the box" thinker
• Understanding outsourcing governance models a strong plus
EDUCATION: BA/BS required. MBA from top tier business school, or other post-graduate degree required unless outweighed by industry experience
