Title: Scotland call up for Commons
Post by: KingFemzee on Oct 10, 2012, 02:52 AM
Kris Commons has been called up by Scotland for the first time in more than a year after Robert Snodgrass and Jordan Rhodes both withdrew from the squad.

Norwich City midfielder Snodgrass had been a major doubt for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Belgium with an ankle injury, while striker Rhodes has also had to pull out just as his Blackburn Rovers team-mate Grant Hanley did on Monday.

Celtic winger Commons was last called up by Scotland manager Craig Levein in August 2011 for a friendly against Denmark, only to be ruled out with a foot injury.

Levein had previously said that Commons was "really unlucky" not to make the cut for several of his squads.

Scotland play Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday before travelling to Brussels for their other Group A fixture four days later.
