Bauchi state has lost N3.5 billion worth  farm produce to flood this year, Permanent Secretary Bauchi  state ministry of Agric, Dr Dauda Abdullahi has said.

The Permanent Secretary, who made this known at the National Agricultural Show ground in Tudunwada along Abuja-Keffi road on Sunday said about 30,000 hectares of farmlands have been submerged by the flood

He said: "This year we have a serious flood and many farmers have been affected. We have estimated about 30,000 hectares of farmlands that have been submerged and crops worth N3.5 billion have been destroyed."

He added that "On the part of the state, we are preparing a package to assist the farmers to go in to dry season farming this year."

According to him "As soon as the water recedes, the farmers are going to be encouraged by the state government to go in to dry season farming so that it will mitigate some of the loses that we recorded this year. "

He also expressed hope that the state contingent in the agric show will do well in prize-wining.
