FORMER Super Eagles' captain, Austin Okocha, says time is on the side of the Nigerian team to make waves at next year's Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria secured the Nations Cup ticket at the expense of Liberia's Lone Star on 8-3 aggregate, but Okocha says the euphoria is over, adding that the three months between now and the kick off of the competition are enough for the players and the technical crew to wake up.
"Three months are enough time for us to prepare for the competition. We will go there and try to do our best,''said Okocha, who is also a member of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
Okocha expressed pleasure over the qualification for the Nations Cup, giving kudos to the Eagles for living up to expectation.
"I want to commend the players for this outstanding feat (of beating Liberia 6-1). I am very happy that we have made it to the Nations Cup. That was our main target and I am sure that every Nigerian is happy that we have qualified for the competition," Okocha said.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations will kick off on January 19
Okocha made his debut for Nigeria in 1993; scoring 14 goals in 73 international appearances.

Yes ooo...l am of the same view with Okocha. We shouldn't dwell on the euphoria of the 6-1 win over Liberia and fail to prepare well for the 2012 Nations Cup.
I support Okocha. We must lift that cup else we are no longer the giant of Africa
