Title: Reps move to reverse sack of Kogi Speaker
Post by: DT on Oct 19, 2012, 07:31 AM
The House of Representatives yesterday commenced moves to reverse Tuesday's impeachment of Speaker of the Kogi state House of Assembly, Abdullahi Bello, and other principal officers.

MPs overwhelmingly adopted a motion sponsored by Rep. Ossai Nicolas Ossai (PDP, Delta), which condemned the action and constituted a special delegation under the leadership of Deputy Chief Whip Ahmed Muktar Mohammed (PDP, Niger) to visit Lokoja, the Kogi state capital with a view to resolving the power tussle. Other members of the committee are Reps. Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, Sokonte Davies, Pally Eriase, Nkem Abonta, Ali Ahmad and Jagaba Adams Jagaba. In his motion, Ossai noted that the said impeachment was carried out by 12 out of the 26 member assembly which according to him was a violation of the constitution since the number did not form 2/3rd majority as required by law.
