Title: Large turnout of voters opens Ondo election

The Ondo state governorship election kicked off on Saturday, with massive voter turnout and some logistic problems.

Below are reports from different parts of the state on materials distribution and accreditation.

In Akure

People were already hanging around before 8:00a.m in readiness to perform their civic duties. Election materials arrived on time. Good turnout of voters.

Allegation of fake soldiers arresting peoplewith  security agents rising to the occasion

Akoko SW, NE

Accreditation started as early as 7.45a.m

In Ise Akoko, Accreditation smooth even the towns monarch queued for exercise despite presence of few security personel.

After accreditation many go back home.Chief Olaiya Oni

In Owo

Late arrival of materials in ward 5 units 7, 9, 10.

Rumour of arrest of people with arms but police, Army authorities dispel rumour.

Crowd of enthusiastic voters thronged various polling units.

Igbara Oke

Accreditation was orderly. Turnout impressive. Politicians excited praising INEC for preparation. Example, Prominent politician Clement Faboyede expressed total satisfaction with the performance of INEC.

Ile Oluji

Impressive turnout of voters  as  Chief I. G. Akinfagbamire commend  INEC.

Idanre LG

Some villages not covered by security officials so no one to accompany electoral materials and officials to such places

Ose LG

Accreditation going on  smoothly.

Patrol team arrested a young man that went to the polling booth at Omi Alapa on a  bike

Many accredited voters are hanging around

Ondo

Massive turnout at the various polling  units.

Governor Mimiko still being expected at his polling unit as at 10a.m.

Ifedore LG/ Ilaramokin

Peaceful and progressive

Some people wore reflective jackets with name of a political party. Securitymen taking measures to ensure they were removed.

Owena

Few security men available.

Ore

Many security operatives everywhere making some frightened voters to remain indoors

Igbotako

Accreditation generally peaceful and orderly.

Ifon

Large turnout of voters. Tight security. International observers are seen monitoring the election.

It was alleged that some politicians were sending bulk SMS around talking of some alliances among parties, in apparent determination to confuse voters.
