Post by: sparrow on Jan 06, 2011, 07:01 PM
THE operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) retail business have expanded. Its acquired and affiliate stations have increased to 502.

A statement by its Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, said the "move is in furtherance of the strategic plan by the NNPC to own at least 50 per cent of the filling stations in the country with the aim of squelching future artificially induced fuel scarcity."

The spokesman said as of close of work on December 24, last year, the Pipelines Products Marketing Company (PPMC) had over 41 days sufficiency in premium motor spirit(petrol); 59 days supply of kerosene and over 30 days' stock of diesel.

He said the huge stock of products ended every talk of fuel scarcity or thought of hoarding of petroleum products due to the perennial fear of the unknown which characterised past festive seasons.
