UMUAHIA— Abia State Government has described the insinuation by some people that the governor was not doing enough on rehabilitation and construction of roads as an old story emanating from agents posing as opposition group as uncharitable, saying they were being economical with the truth.
It accused the opposition of raising false alarm, noting that the immediate past government was asleep while others were developing their states for which reason the incumbent governor was saddled with the burden of starting afresh to develop the state.
A statement by Mr. Ben Onyechere, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Communication, said: "The opposition in Diaspora has imbibed the culture of always raising false alarm where none exists. The dissemination of falsehood has the capacity to dissuade investors as much as it can mislead the public.
"They have denied that there are no such projects as women and youth empowerment neither will they admit the existence of conducive and secured environment for businesses to thrive and construction of numerous projects which speak for themselves.
"They can never talk about the establishment of new capital city in Umuahia, where the new government house is located, not far from the new international and industial markets, which are nearly completed.
"The basis of their falsehood is that some roads in Aba which belong to the Federal Government are flooded for which government is expected to build at the same time.
There is no amount of falsehood that can stampede the resolve of the governor to maximise development of the state as we still have a long way to go before the end of the tenure."
