Ribadu report: FG sets up white paper c’ttee

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday mandated three panels to prepare white papers on the reports of three committees that investigated the petroleum sector.

A statement by presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said the White Paper committee on the Ribadu committee report will be chaired by Labour Minister Emeka Wogu, with Interior Minister Abba Moro, FCT Minister of State Olajumoke Akinjide and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Nurudeen Mohammed as members. "The white paper committee on the report of the Governance and Controls Special Task Force will be chaired by Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ms. Ama Pepple. Other members of the committee are Minister of State, Defence, Olusola Obada; Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar and Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development Bukar Tijani.

"The White paper committee on the report of the National Refineries Special Task Force has Minister of Mines and Steel Development Mohammed Sada as Chairman. Other members are Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Akinwumi Adesina, Minister of State for Health, Muhammad Pate and Minister of State for Education, Nyeson Wike.

"The Committees are to study the reports, review the issues raised and prepare draft White papers for the consideration of the Federal Executive Council within two weeks.

Also yesterday, Presidential aide on Public Affairs Doyin Okupe said the Federal Government has no intention of dumping the Nuhu Ribadu report. He said the government would definitely "take good look" at the recommendations and comprehensively verify every data.
