SENATOR Ibikunle Amosun Friday secured the ticket of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to run for the governorship race in Ogun State in April.

And shortly after he was announced as the party's candidate, he pledged to create no fewer than 10,000 jobs for the burgeoning unemployed youths within his first 100 days in office if elected the governor of the state.

He emerged as the consensus candidate of the ACN from wards to local government levels, and was subsequently affirmed at a state congress of the party in a motion moved by Mr Dapo Sorumi from Obafemi Owode Council and seconded by Mr Olabiyi Taofeek from Ado/Odo/Ota at Abiola Way Secretariat, Abeokuta.

Amosun, who crossed over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to contest the governorship seat of the state in 2007, was believed by many to have been robbed of his mandate through rigging.

The senator said he would recreate the people-oriented programmes of the Chief Obafemi Awolowo era under the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria.
