DFID funded research positions at universities and research institution in sub-Sahara Africa and UK. The research position covers research expenses, travel and subsistence costs and cost of (PhD) training. In addition to this it also provide a limited fund for equipment. The Research Grant is available in the field of water and sanitation, Renewable energy and Soil-related research areas. Up to 20 research positions are available. The Programme may also provide support of up to £1,243,000 over a five year period. Application Deadline is 4 April 2013.

Eligibility:-Applicants must be based in one of the eligible sub-Saharan African countries (PDF) or the UK. In order to act as a principal investigator (PI), applicants must:

-have a PhD or have extensive research experience at an equivalent level

-have a proven track record of training students at Master's and Doctoral level

-have a proven track record of publishing in both national and international journals

-be based in the respective countries at the time of the application

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: The students of UK and Sub-Saharan Africa can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The overall aim of the scheme is to strengthen the research capacity of universities and research institution in sub-Saharan Africa by supporting the development of sustainable research networks.

Number of awards offered: 20 Scholarships are offered.

Duration of award(s): It is applicable for five years.
