(MICS) is a social enterprise consultancy firm specializing in consultancy and advisory services to various actors dedicated to eradicating poverty in Africa. It seeks to link micro, medium and small enterprises (MSMEs), credit unions, co-operative groups, rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), women'??s groups, and microfinance institutions (MFIs) with public and private funding sources and to provide technical assistance and capacity building strategies for improved efficiency and greater outreach.

Background

The Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Development Program aims at providing comprehensive financial literacy training and business development support to existing microfinance clients. The methodology involves the implementation of several program initiatives, including financial education and capability workshops, business development seminars, and advocacy services for target participants. The overall aim is to enhance the financial literacy and productivity of recipients throughout Nigeria.

About the Job:

Micro Investment Consultancy Services Limited (MICS) is seeking a Volunteer Consultant – Financial Literacy & Entrepreneur Development in the areas of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and agricultural development finance, to provide trainings to target clients of microfinance and officers of microfinance institutions/cooperatives.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

•   Develop "training of trainers"' manual, on providing financial knowledge to target groups based on international best practices;

•   Develop manuals to be adapted to needs of existing microfinance clients;

•   Provide client with aforementioned services within a selected timeframe as well as periodic support throughout the length of the collaboration.

Qualifications:

•   Advanced Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Social Sciences, and Humanities;

•   At least 3 to 5 years of experience in microfinance-related area such as financial literacy, rural finance, trainings, entrepreneurship skills building. Experience in the Nigerian context is advantageous;

•   Knowledge of entrepreneurial and agricultural finance;

•   Good organizational and interpersonal skills;

•   Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

•   Creativity and flexibility;

•   Strong interest in participatory development issues;

•   Good understanding of living and working in the developing world and having cross cultural sensitivities;

•   Fluency and strong writing abilities in English.
