Kano Police Arrest Suspected Terrorists, Armed Robbers

The Kano State Police Command says it has recovered 11 rifles, some IEDs and a number of ammunition from suspected armed robbers and terrorists.

Addressing a news conference in Kano on Thursday, the state police commissioner, Ibrahim Idris, said two of the suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery case while three others have been declared wanted.

Muhammed Auwal and Hashimu Ado, indigenes of Katsina and Kano States respectively, were said to have allegedly conspired with three others, now at large, to attack a super market in Jogana town, Kano State, and robbed the owners of an undisclosed amount of money.

The command also discovered some Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) around Sauna Kawaji by Yankaba Road in Kano Metropolis were a number of AK47 rifles were also recovered, after successfully defusing the explosives.

With the recent declaration of ceasefire by members of Boko Haram, coupled with security crackdown on local criminals in the state, the Kano Police command says criminal activities have drastically reduced in the area.
