National honours excite Yobo, Omeuro

Super Eagles skipper Joseph Yobo has said that winning the AFCON trophy at his sixth attempt remains the highest point of his football career just as he has expressed deep appreciation and joy over the national honour bestowed on him and his national team-mates by President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday night at Aso Rock, Abuja.

Yobo said he felt fulfilled that he led the Eagles to win the AFCON trophy against all expectations adding that he would now quit playing AFCON happily. Yobo who was decorated by the President as an Officer of the Order of the Niger, OON at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja on Tuesday during a special reception for the victorious team courtesy of the Nations Cup win, said he has joined the league of national honours beneficiaries.

"I'm so happy. Each time I walk along the streets and see people respectfully addressed as MON and stuffs like that I really respect them", Yobo said.

"Today I can begin to be addressed as Yobo OON. I'm really excited and I will remain grateful to Mr President for this wonderful gesture".

Keneth Omeruo has also described the honour as the best to happen to him as a Nigerian.
