Ogun State - Be abreast of new trends in the health sector, Ogun charges new employee

The new health workers employed by the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board have been challenged to update and keep themselves abreast of new trends in health care delivery system in order to make meaningful contributions to government’s effort to render qualitative healthcare services to the people.     Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka who threw this challenge in Abeokuta at a 2-day orientation training workshop for them urged that they should see themselves as important part of the process to accomplish the efficient healthcare delivery component of the “Mission to Rebuild”.  He pointed out that the workshop was put together to familiarize them with civil service rules and expose them to accepted ways of discharging their major responsibilities and duties, urging them to make punctuality and commitment to service their watchword.” You should see yourselves as part of the mechanism and process of government to render qualitative and efficient healthcare service to the generality of our people. As you are aware, this government places a high premium on the wellbeing of its residents, so you must be committed, friendly and courteous to the patients when they need your attention”, Soyinka charged.     Soyinka reminded them that they would be constantly supervised to measure their performances and assured that on its part, government would provide an enabling environment to perform optimally, emphasizing that part of the measures to be taken in this direction was the upgrading of hospitals and provision of needed equipment. Advising them not to hesitate in reporting any misdemeanor or any indecent act to appropriate quarters, the Commissioner informed that the new workers would be posted to different parts of the State.     Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Dr. Oyin Sodipe, lauded Governor Amosun for giving approval to employ more hands into the health care sector, saying that “we believe that with this kind of recruitment, more hands will join the remaining hands in our various hospitals to work. I want to congratulate the new recruits for securing job with the State Government especially now that we need more hands in our various hospitals”.     Sodipe reaffirmed Government’s commitment to rebuild and offer qulitative healthcare delivery services to all residents of the State, noting that the new employment covered both medical and non-medical fields.Speaking later in an interview, three of the new employees, a Medical Officer, Dr. Abass Yusuff, a Higher Executive Officer, Accounts, Miss Doyinsola Olaleye and a Health Attendant, Mr. Ofomala Victor expressed gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity, saying that the training was helpful as it had exposed them to varied topics on their respective fields.
