Academica de Coimbra midfielder, John Ogu Ugochukwu has exclusively revealed that he was ecstatic and over the moon when he got the news of his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles.

Ogu, 24, revealed that it came to him as a shock and relief as well.

"I was shocked to say the least, it was out of the blues, I went numb for a while, but it has sunk in now," he said.
.
The versatile player, who is primarily an attacking midfielder, can play in a variety of positions which can be a big asset to the Super Eagles.

"I prefer to play from an attacking midfield position, but can equally play as a defensive midfielder, and I have occasionally played at left back," he said.
.
Suffice to say, the Lagos-born player slotted in an attacking role for his club in the 1-1 draw with Portuguese giants, Sporting Lisbon and was substituted in the 89th minute.

The former Uniao Lleria player has promised to do his best to pick a shirt when the Super Eagles converge in Calabar for the all-important clash with the Harambee Stars of Kenya.

"Playing for my country has been my dream, I hope to take the opportunity with both hands and do my best to earn a shirt for the game.
.
"It's a huge opportunity, I am grateful to coach Stephen Keshi," he rounded off.

Nigeria will play Kenya in a Group F World Cup qualifying match at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar on March 23.

The African champions currently top the group on four points after two matches.
