Eligibility: The potential candidate must have a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics or a corresponding degree. Basic knowledge in signal and systems is required and additional skills or specialization in digital communications, information theory, wireless communication, and/or optimization theory are an asset. The candidate should be highly motivated for doing scientific research and should have well developed analytical and problem solving skills as well as an interest and curiosity for developing theoretical understanding in fundamental communication principles. Good verbal and writing skills in English are expected.

Scholarship Description: Research and education in the Communication Theory lab is pursued in general area of digital communication with focus on information and communication theory and with emphasis on wireless systems. This includes areas like network information theory, Shannon source and channel coding, detection theory, as well as networked control theory. The staff at the Communication Theory lab is multicultural and the working language is English. Within the ACCESS center the lab collaborates closely with other research groups with neighboring competences. The lab is also involved in several European and national projects. The lab generally searches for well-motivated candidates to join our doctoral program.
