Bayelsa State - Fund Raising for St Stephen's Anglican Deanery, Otuoke ....President Jonathan Assures Donors of Prudent Utilisation of Funds, as Gov Dickson Takes Over Nursery School, Cancer Diagnostic Centre

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, was among dignitaries that graced the fund raising/launching of St Stephens Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Centre, Otuoke in Bayelsa State at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Announcing Government's partnership and support towards the realization of the project, Governor Dickson declared his administration's plan to build the Nursery School and Cancer Diagnostic Centre components of the project at Otuoke.

Similarly, there was a donation of N230 million from Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio on behalf of the PDP Governors' Forum, while the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke announced a donation of N100 million on behalf of the South- South State Governors.

However the highest singular donation came from a business mogul and philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze, who donated the sum of N1.8 Billion naira.

There were other donations totaling N5 billion from the private sector alone.

Speaking at the occasion, a visibly elated President Goodluck Jonathan, who was also the Special Guest of Honour, thanked the organizers and all those who contributed towards the project, noting that it will go a long way in making the youth development centre in his community a reality.

According to the President, the money raised at the occasion has brought him a great sense of joy and assured that the funds will be judiciously used for the St Stephen's Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Centre at Otuoke.

He used the occasion to explain that the project has been tied to the church in view of its age- long track record of prudence, honesty and sincerity in managing funds meant for specific projects such as this as well as the general confidence reposed in the Church by the people.
