The Client uses advanced cutting edge technologies in 'frontier' deepwater areas of over 1,000 metres.

A rapidly growing Operator company comprising of a range of large operated and non-operated deep and shallow water assets.

The Principal Project Engineer – Subsea Systems will functionally report to the Head of the Subsea Systems. The successful applicants will be involved with the design, construction, testing, installation, and/or start-up activities of subsea systems; including tendering and contracting of new contracts and contractor supervision and management of existing contracts, and input into design of future projects. The scope will also involve providing support to Bonga subsea surveillance team in the planning and execution of intervention activities for subsea facilities, including inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) for subsea producing assets, pipelines and structures.

Client currently has two flagship projects, that are pre-DG-3.

Some Accountabilities:


  • Champion project engineering contributions to ORP deliverables such as cost estimates, VARs, and Project Execution Plans.

  • Monitor progress throughout the project phases and understand how the delivered system meets the project requirements/specifications.

  • Ensure that all deliverables and responsibilities defined in the DCAF/project PCAP are carried out.

  • Ensure that work is carried out in a manner consistent with Shell's minimum standards and policies.

  • Champion the utilization of Shell Global work processes (Performance agreements, HSE management process, MOC process, etc.).

  • Interface coordination with other project and work package engineers

  • Coordinating the use of external/contract resources to support the engineering activities.

  • Solicitation and evaluation of Operations input

  • Reviews scopes of work, budgets, commitments, schedules and progress. Makes use of progress reporting system.

  • Development and maintenance of applicable drawings and engineering design documents.

  • Development, control and update of applicable cost estimates and schedules. Shared accountability for cost, schedule, safety, and reliability with the other project team members

  • Prepare close-out reports for each of the contract phases, reporting on follow-up issues, lessons learnt and making recommendations for future projects;


Education and Qualifications:


  • A recognized BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Subsea Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 12 years experience in deepwater subsea hardware and systems engineering.

  • Seasoned and professional engineer that worked in all phases of project execution (from concept development to construction/commissioning) and has the necessary skills and experience (both in depth and breadth) to provide expert advice in his/her field and verify correct application of engineering standards, systems and tools toward the successful delivery of the project work packages

  • Thorough knowledge of deepwater subsea hardware and systems engineering design and construction methods including practices, procedures, codes, standards, and regulations.

  • A good understanding of Industry, DEPs and construction Standards related to deepwater facilities, with the ability to challenge same if needed.
