Main Purpose of the Job:

• Manage adequate controls over the risks encountered in the post-credit granting stage of the credit process, by design and implementation of credit processes, policies and procedures across the various units  viz Account management, CMU and Loan disbursement.

• Maintain tight control over all aspects of advance administration to contain credit risk within acceptable parameters across all units in Personal aand Business Banking Credit risk management.

• Maintain adequate controls over all aspects of the collateral process ranging from offer letter & collateral document preparation, collateral recordal, maintenance and custodianship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations and smooth running of the account management, CMU, loan disbursement and Collateral management units.

• Manage all identified credit control events and defaults, in order to reduce the roll rate of loans into the collections and NPL portfolio by providing a prompt and orderly turnaround environment in which controls can be exercised to ensure that the Bank is not faced with avoidable losses.

• Facilitate the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of credit risk policies and strategies in Personal aand Business Banking Credit risk management unit.

• Guide and direct improvement initiatives on existing processes by leading implementation of projects and initiatives.

• Manage relationships with business partners to ensure compliance and alignment to credit policies.

• Monitor and report risk and performance of the Personal aand Business Banking portfolio to the Head of Personal aand Business Banking Credit and Country Head of Credit.

• Drive a customer-focused culture without compromising risk controls.

• Manage the Watchlist process to ensure alignment with the Watchlist policy.

• Participate in Personal aand Business Banking Credit EXCO, Watchlist, CRMC and other relevant committees as required.

• Mentoring, coaching and training of staff on process techniques, industry best practices and latest applicable technologies.

• Build a strong team in order to facilitate successful management of the Personal aand Business Bankingcredit portfolio.

• Oversee the collateral team to ensure the bank is not unduly exposed to losses arising from overdue insurances, valuations and collateral maintenance.

Key Performance Measures:

• Adequate controls over the risks encountered in the post-credit granting stage of the credit process to ensure compliance to all required conditions, thereby ensuring accurate and error free transactions, as well as minimizing loss to the bank.  – Ensure all items due for watchlisting are captured.

• Credit Risk and Account Management policies at all times are current, relevant and conform to best practices.

• Ensure that all transactional and operational processes pertaining to Credit are process mapped, reviewed and implemented.

• Satisfactory audit ratings and no negative ratings from CBN & NDIC.

• Develop agree and implement performance contracts, development plans and training for self and team.

• Cooperative relationships between the team, business partners and other credit units.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge:

• Sound knowledge of retail lending analysis techniques, advances, credit criteria, credit policies, risk and financial analysis, credit control and application thereof.

• Sound understanding of the Bank's products suite – Unsecured Lending, Home Loans, Vehicle and Asset Financing etc.

• Sound knowledge of  credit policies and processes.

• Minimum of a first degree in social sciences, a second degree will be an added advantage.

Experience:

• Ideal candidate should have a minimum of 8 years relevant working experience with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.

• Proven experience in a credit risk environment with emphasis on Personal and Business Banking (retail)

• Proven ability to influence business strategy within a credit risk environment.

• Proven track record of management of processes and systems.
